The "Early Harmony" – A Resilient Gem from a Small Harvest
In March 2026, the 2024 Christoph Edelbauer Rosé Rosé is emerging as a particularly special release. The 2024 vintage in the Kamptal was defined by a "small but superb" harvest. Late spring frosts and early flowering reduced yields significantly, but the grapes that remained benefited from a glorious late summer. This resulted in wines with "early harmony"—they are approachable and expressive even in their absolute youth.
True to the Edelbauer style, this is a certified organic and vegan blend of Zweigelt and St. Laurent. While many 2024 Austrian whites show slightly higher alcohol, Christoph has managed to keep this Rosé at a refreshing and balanced 12.5% ABV.
🍷 Tasting Notes (2026 Perspective)
The 2024 is currently described as having a "calm elegance" compared to the high-energy "snap" of the 2023.
-
The Nose: Fragrant and Refined. It offers a delicate bouquet of wild roses, red berries, and exotic fruits. Unlike more rustic rosés, there is a "shimmering" clarity to the fruit, with a subtle hint of sea breeze and white pepper.
-
The Palate: Silky and Balanced. The entry is incredibly smooth. You’ll find concentrated flavors of ripe strawberries and blood orange, balanced by a moderate, well-integrated acidity. It lacks any "cheesy" or artificial sweetness, leaning instead into a savory, mineral core.
-
The Finish: Persistent and Fresh. It concludes with a clean, fruity finish and a touch of herbal spice, characteristic of the St. Laurent in the blend.

Pro Tip
The 2024 vintage is noted for its "gastronomic versatility." Because the acidity is slightly more mellow and the fruit more "generous" than in 2023, it stands up beautifully to a wider range of temperatures.
The Serving Tip: While 10°C is standard, don't be afraid to let this sit in the glass for a few minutes. As it warms slightly, the exotic fruit and rose notes become much more pronounced.
The Pairing:
-
Seafood: Excellent with Grilled Prawns or Seared Scallops.
-
The "Fireplace" Match: Interestingly, some sommeliers are recommending this specific vintage as a "Winter Rosé" because of its weight and calm elegance—it pairs surprisingly well with a light poultry terrine or charcuterie.
-
Finnish Twist: Pair it with Cold-smoked Reindeer (Kylmäsavuporo) on rye bread. The wine’s strawberry fruit provides a beautiful contrast to the smoke and salt of the meat.
