This is the Van Zeller family’s flagship wine, where the winemaking traditions of the Douro Valley are combined with a modern approach.
Van Zeller is one of Portugal’s oldest wine estates, with roots dating back to the 1620s. The family has shaped the winemaking culture of the Douro Valley for more than 14 generations and has contributed to building the global reputation of port wine as well as high‑quality red and white still wines.
Douro is one of the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions. The wine is made from grapes grown on old vines, often more than 70 years old. The native grape varieties of the Douro Valley include touriga nacional, touriga franca and tinta roriz.
The grapes are hand‑harvested and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in small batches. The wine is aged for 18–26 months in 225‑liter French oak barrels, which adds structure, refined spiciness, and excellent ageing potential.
