400 years of port wine heritage in a single glass, softly nutty and elegantly aged, this 10-year-old tawny elevates every moment.
The Van Zeller family is one of the oldest port wine families in the Douro Valley and has been producing port continuously since 1620. The 10-year-old tawny is a blend of several vintages, each adding its own layer of flavour, resulting in a style that is both traditional and distinctive. The tawny style takes its name from the wine’s amber-brown colour, developed through long ageing in oak casks.
The grapes are classic port varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. The hot climate and rocky slopes produce small, highly aromatic grapes that are ideal for sweet, concentrated port wines.
The wine ferments in the traditional way, and the fermentation is halted by adding grape spirit, preserving its natural sweetness. It is then aged for an average of 10 years in small oak barrels.
When you crave the perfect dessert wine, chill this 10-year-old tawny and let it blend beautifully with chocolate, nutty treats and bold cheeses. Just a small glass is enough to turn an ordinary evening into a moment of pure indulgence.
