A Gran Reserva from an exceptional vintage, where long ageing and Valduero’s traditional craftsmanship elevate Tempranillo to its classic brilliance.
Bodegas Valduero was founded in 1984 by the García Viader siblings, at a time when Ribera del Duero was only beginning its rise to global recognition. “12 Años” refers to the wine’s exceptionally long ageing period.
Ribera del Duero is the kingdom of Tempranillo. The wine comes from Spain’s famous high plateau, where elevations reach nearly 900 meters above sea level. The cold nights and hot days give the grape its deep fruitiness and intense colour.
This wine is crafted with uncompromising attention to detail: the grapes are hand‑harvested, fermentation proceeds slowly in stainless steel tanks, and a long maceration adds depth and refined structure. Ageing takes place for 4 years in French and American oak barrels, followed by 8 years of bottle ageing in the cellars.
Gran Reserva 12 Años 2001 is a wine that elevates any meal to a new level. It pairs beautifully with game, slow‑cooked meat stews, grilled meats, and mature, aromatic cheeses. Its layered complexity also makes it an excellent wine to enjoy on its own.
