A balanced and aromatic Sauternes dessert wine where the depth of noble rot meets bright acidity.
Maison Sichel is a long‑established and highly respected Bordeaux wine house that has been operating since 1883. Sauternes is one of the world’s most renowned sweet‑wine regions and is often considered the benchmark for sweet white wines.
Sauternes is located between the Garonne River and the Landes forest, where humid mornings and warm days create perfect conditions for the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). This process dehydrates the grapes and concentrates their sugars and aromas. The typical grape varieties are Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
The grapes are hand‑harvested in several passes to ensure that only bunches perfectly affected by noble rot are selected. The pressing is gentle, and the juice ferments slowly at low temperatures to preserve the purity of the aromas. The wine ages for 6–12 months in oak barrels, adding layers of complexity, honeyed notes and structure.
Sichel Sauternes 2022 is ideal for lovers of sweet wines who seek both richness and freshness. It beautifully complements foie gras, blue cheeses and fruity desserts, while also pairing effortlessly with spicy Asian dishes. The wine’s honeyed depth and vibrant acidity make it wonderfully versatile—from celebrations to cheese boards—and this vintage offers a cellaring potential of 1–20 years.
