Kanzler Vineyard is one of the most highly regarded Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley.
Kanzler Vineyard was planted in 1996 and was one of the first vineyards on the hills southwest of Sebastopol, an area once considered too cool for viticulture. Since then, it has become one of the most highly regarded Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley.
Russian River Valley is known for its foggy mornings and cool ocean breezes, which slow ripening and give Pinot Noir its intense aromatics and vibrant acidity.
The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, highlighting the vineyard’s unique character and the multidimensional aromas of the grapes. It is aged for about ten months in French oak barrels, enhancing its ageing potential. The result is a medium‑bodied yet intense Pinot Noir that brings together red berries, herbal notes, and refined earthiness.
The wine is enjoyable in its youth but also has ageing potential for 1–8 years. Its vibrant acidity and fine‑grained tannins make it a versatile food wine. It pairs beautifully with game birds, mushroom dishes, rich fish or earthy vegetarian plates. Such as duck breast, pheasant, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon or chickpea panisses.
