A Story-Driven Finnish Spirit – From Authors to Readers
In March 2026, Readers' Gin is celebrated as the flagship spirit of Authors' Distillery, a boutique Finnish distillery located in Helsinki. Founded in 2019 by a group of prominent Finnish cultural figures—including authors Tuomas Kyrö, Christian Rönnbacka, and Soili Pohjalainen, alongside master distiller Samuil Angelov & Sami Kähkönen—the project is built on the philosophy that "great literature and fine spirits share the same soul."
The distillery operates out of a converted pig farm on "Booze Hill," where they produce small-batch spirits designed to be enjoyed while reading a good book.
🍸 Tasting Notes & Profile
Readers' Gin is a premium Dry Gin known for its exceptionally smooth, herbal, and "Finnish" character. It is noted for using pure groundwater from Mäntsälä and locally sourced botanicals.
-
The Nose: Fresh and Herbal. It opens with a crisp bouquet of juniper and lemon zest, immediately followed by a distinctive minty freshness and hints of coriander.
-
The Palate: Silky and Balanced. The entry is enticingly smooth with a light, summery feel. You’ll find a harmonious blend of pine needles, fresh rosemary, and green spices. Unlike heavy London Dry gins, this feels more "botanical-forward."
-
The Finish: Long and Spicy. It concludes with a lingering warmth featuring notes of cardamom, black pepper, and a touch of vanilla.

Pro Tip
This gin was specifically engineered to create the "World's Best Gin & Tonic." To replicate the award-winning serve, use Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic. Garnish with a mint sprig and a strip of orange peel—the mint amplifies the gin's herbal profile, while the orange peel brings out the hidden citrus oils in the spirit. Because of its 44% ABV and extreme smoothness, it also performs brilliantly in a Dry Martini with a lemon twist.
