Quinta Vale D. Maria is a historic estate with roots dating back to the 1800s and is regarded as one of the pioneers of quality in the Douro. The name Douro Superior refers to the easternmost and most rugged part of the region, where steep slopes and a hot climate produce exceptionally intense grapes.
The wine comes from the Douro Superior region, known for its steep slopes, rocky soils and intensely sunny climate. The grape varieties used are typical of the Douro including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Rorizbringing structure, dark fruit and spicy notes to the wine.
Vale D. Maria Douro Superior is crafted from hand‑picked, aromatically intense grapes that ferment at cool temperatures to preserve their vibrant fruit. Part of the wine matures in oak, adding structure, spicy nuances and a velvety mouthfeel. The freshness of stainless steel and the depth of oak ageing come together in a harmonious balance that allows the character of the Douro varieties to shine.
