Quinta de Santiago Sou Branco Alvarinho is a bold and authentic white wine born from the collaboration of two passionate winemakers.
A wine born from friendship: Sou is a collaborative project between Quinta de Santiago and the renowned winemaker Nuno Mira do Ó. Monção & Melgaço is the most esteemed sub‑region of Vinho Verde for Alvarinho. The Atlantic influence, the Minho River valley and the granite‑rich soils produce wines that combine minerality and freshness.
100% Alvarinho from old vines growing in granite- and mineral-rich soils. The proximity to the Atlantic brings cool nights and warm days, preserving the grapes’ acidity and aromatic intensity.
Hand-harvested grapes and gentle pressing to preserve purity. A two-part fermentation process: around 40% of the wine ferments in oak barrels, half of which undergo spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Approximately 60% ferments slowly in stainless steel tanks to maintain the variety’s freshness. The result is a textural Alvarinho with balanced acidity and pronounced minerality.
The wine has ageing potential but is recommended to be enjoyed young. It pairs beautifully with a variety of seafood, light meat dishes and Asian cuisine. Try it with oysters, grilled octopus, Iberico pork pluma or spicy prawn dumplings.
