The "Grandma’s Challenge" – A Vibrant, Terroir-Driven House Signature
In March 2026, the 2024 "Assinatura de Família" (Family Signature) is celebrated as the soul of Quinta de Santiago. While their monovarietal Alvarinhos are the estate's heavy hitters, the Assinatura is a more traditional, "polyphonic" blend of the Minho region. It honors the 2009 turning point when "Grandma Mariazinha" challenged the family to stop selling their grapes to cooperatives and start bottling their own legacy.
The 2024 vintage was characterized by a classic, fresh Atlantic influence, resulting in a wine that is exceptionally "bright, racy, and full of life."
🍷 Tasting Notes (2026 Perspective)
Currently at its peak of youthful exuberance, the 2024 Assinatura is a "thirst-quenching" white with surprising aromatic depth.
-
The Nose: Super Bright and High-Energy. It opens with an expansive bouquet of frosted lemon, lime zest, and green apple. As it breathes, more delicate layers of white flowers (jasmine and acacia) and a hint of fuzzy nectarine emerge, characteristic of the Loureiro and Trajadura components.
-
The Palate: Crisp and Effervescent. The entry is lean and refreshing, featuring a light, "dancing" mouthfeel with a touch of natural spritz. You’ll find a concentrated core of citrus and orchard fruit, underpinned by a racy, stony minerality.
-
The Finish: Persistent and Saline. It concludes with a long, clean finish marked by saline streaks and a refreshing citrus-pith bitterness that leaves the palate revitalized.

Pro Tip
The Assinatura is designed for "uncomplicated joy." To maintain its crisp, racy profile, serve it very cold (7°C–9°C). Unlike the richer, oak-aged Alvarinhos, this blend does not need decanting; simply pop the cork and pour. It is a world-class companion for taco nights, pool days, and salty snacks. Gastronomically, it shines alongside fresh oysters, ceviche, or grilled sardines with lemon.
