The "King" in Transition – Limestone, Tension, and Time

In March 2026, the Plenér Riesling (Ryzlink rýnský) 2019/2020 is regarded as one of the estate's most intellectually rewarding white wines. Dominika Černohorská often uses multi-vintage blending for her top-tier Rieslings to achieve a "complete" profile: the 2019 component provides deep, structural power and riper fruit, while the 2020 component (a challenging, cooler year) injects the wine with high-toned acidity and a "vibrating" energy.

Sourced from 15-year-old vines in the marl and limestone soils of the Pálava hills, this wine is a masterclass in how Riesling can act as a "biographer" for its terroir.

🍷 Tasting Notes (2026 Perspective)

After six years, the 2019/2020 blend has moved past its primary "green" phase and is showing the first signs of the noble complexity that defines aged Riesling.

  • The Nose: Refined and Expressive. It leads with a classic bouquet of green apple, citrus zest, and apricot. As it breathes, the characteristic "petrol" or kerosene note begins to emerge—a sign of high-quality maturation—alongside delicate hints of chamomile and wet stone.

  • The Palate: Taut and Architectural. The entry is sharp and focused. It features a concentrated core of grapefruit and white peach, supported by a formidable mineral "spine." Despite its 13.0% alcohol, the wine feels "light on its feet" due to its intense, vertical acidity.

  • The Finish: Savory and Dry. It concludes with a long, saline finish that is almost "chalky" in texture, reflecting the high calcium content of the Pavlov vineyards.

Pro Tip

This is a Riesling for people who appreciate "tension." To fully appreciate its structural evolution, decant for 30–45 minutes. This allows the reductive mineral notes to step back and the stone fruit aromatics to "bloom." Serve at 10°C–12°C. Its intense acidity and savory profile make it an incredible partner for fresh shellfish, Pan-Seared Sea Bass, or even lightly spiced Thai cuisine.
