Plener Pinot Noir 2023

The "I’m a Cool-Climate Rebel from Pavlov" Pinot
The VibeIf you haven't explored the Czech Republic's wine scene yet, start here. Vinařství Plenér, led by winemaker Dominika Černohorská, is based in the stunning village of Pavlov beneath the Pálava hills. This Pinot Noir is "new-wave" Moravia: minimalist, elegant, and deeply connected to the white limestone soils of the region. It’s a far cry from the heavy, over-oaked reds of the past; this is translucent, vibrant, and alive.
The NoseThe 2023 vintage is a masterclass in purity. It leads with bright red forest berries—wild strawberries, cranberries, and sour cherries. Because Plenér favors large, used oak barrels (or sometimes even concrete/amphorae), you won't get hit with a face-full of vanilla. Instead, you'll find delicate notes of dried herbs, blood orange peel, and a distinct "chalky" minerality that smells like rain on warm stones.
The TasteOn the palate, it’s light to medium-bodied with tension that snaps. The tannins are fine-grained and "silky-sandy," providing structure without being aggressive. You’ll taste crunchy red fruit and a savory, slightly salty finish that is characteristic of the limestone-rich Pavlov terroir. It’s exceptionally fresh, making it dangerously easy to
drink.Product SpecsFeatureRealityOrigin

Best Paired With:The Local Menu: Roasted duck with red cabbage (a Czech classic) or a wild mushroom risotto. The "Cool" Choice: Slightly chilled (14-15°C) alongside a charcuterie board with mild, creamy cheeses. The Occasion: A dinner where you want to surprise your "Burgundy-only" friends with something they can't pronounce but will definitely love.Pro Tip: Plenér wines are known for their "clean" natural style. Don't be afraid to give this bottle 20 minutes of air; it starts out shy but opens up into a beautiful, floral conversation once it catches its breath.
