A Vibrant and Tense Classic – The Energy of the Sea and the Slate
In March 2026, the 2016 Perinet Tinto is widely regarded as a benchmark for the estate’s "classic" style. While the 2015 vintage was noted for its warmth and plushness, the 2016 vintage in Priorat was slightly cooler, resulting in wines with more perfumed aromatics, higher tension, and a distinct floral lift.
After a decade of aging, the 2016 has reached a beautiful state of equilibrium. The oak has fully integrated, and the initial "mountain herb" character of the Priorat scrubland has evolved into a sophisticated, savory complexity.
🍷 Tasting Notes (2026 Perspective)
This vintage is celebrated for its "rocking" balance—offering deep, dark fruit without losing the refreshing sea-breeze influence that defines this specific corner of Poboleda.
-
The Nose: Floral and Deep. It leads with high-toned aromas of violet pastille and lavender, quickly followed by mulled black cherries and blueberries. There is a persistent secondary layer of incense, new leather, and rosemary honey.
-
The Palate: Seamless and Silky. The mouthfeel is medium-to-full-bodied with flawlessly balanced acidity. You'll find a concentrated core of raspberry jam and plum, supported by a "grainy" tannin structure that is now supple and sweet.
-
The Finish: Mineral and Long. It leaves a signature Priorat trail of crushed slate (llicorella), anise, and a hint of saltiness that keeps the palate feeling fresh and energized.

Pro Tip
The 2016 Perinet is known for its "double personality"—the nose is often dominated by oak-driven vanilla and spice, while the palate is driven by "crunchy" red fruits and minerals. To bridge these two profiles, decant the wine for 60 minutes. This allows the primary fruit to "catch up" to the secondary aromas. Serve at 16°C. Its combination of sea-salt minerality and rich fruit makes it a perfect match for Herbed Rack of Lamb or a Wild Mushroom Paella.
