Domaine des Billards Saint-Amour  is an elegant and fresh Gamay from the northernmost cru of Beaujolais.
The Jean Loron estate traces its roots back to the 18th century and is one of the most respected family‑owned producers in Beaujolais. Domaine des Billards is a historic property that once belonged to the Barbet family, one of the region’s oldest winemaking lineages.
Saint-Amour is located at the northern edge of Beaujolais, close to Burgundy. The soil is a mix of clay, sandstone and granite, giving the Gamay grape natural minerality and structure.
The wine is crafted using the semi‑carbonic maceration typical of Beaujolais crus, where whole clusters and crushed grapes ferment side by side, bringing floral notes, pure fruit and subtle structure. Gentle extraction and maturation in cement tanks highlight Gamay’s freshness, soft tannins and the mineral, elegant character of Saint‑Amour.
Saint-Amour pairs well with poultry, light meats, charcuterie and mushroom dishes, and its fresh berry character also complements soft cheeses and spiced vegetarian dishes. The wine offers a few years of ageing potential but is already enjoyable now.
