Cuvée du Mélèze is born at the foot of an ancient larch tree, creating a wine where history, nature and Ponsot’s craftsmanship come together.
Laurent Ponsot is one of Burgundy’s most renowned and respected winemakers, and Cuvée du Mélèze takes its name from the ancient larch tree that watches over the vineyard, symbolising the wine’s resilience and deep-rooted character.
Gevrey‑Chambertin is one of Burgundy’s most famous Pinot Noir villages, known for wines that are powerful yet elegant. En Ergot is a small and highly regarded vineyard in the village, located in its central section where the soil is limestone with touches of clay. The wine is 100% Pinot Noir.
The harvest is carried out carefully by hand, and fermentation takes place with natural yeasts, highlighting the purity of the site and the wine’s true character. Ponsot uses very little new oak during ageing to preserve the wine’s fruit and freshness. Ageing takes place in older French oak barrels for 18–24 months.
This silky and aromatic Pinot Noir shines alongside refined dishes: perfect with duck, game birds, truffle and wild mushrooms. Roasted root vegetables and fine cheeses also highlight the wine’s complexity. The wine matures beautifully in the cellar for over a decade.
