Kleren Rhum Reserve des VIP Beauvoir-Leriche 57,5% 0,7l

The "Private Stash" of a Distilling Legend
In 2026, the Réserve des VIP remains one of the most soul-stirring spirits to come out of Haiti. Unlike the Barrique Vieux which leans on oak maturation, this bottling is an unaged (white) Clairin that focuses on the raw, unadulterated power of the cane.
Historically, this specific "cuvée" was the private reserve of Beauvoir Leriche, one of the most respected veteran distillers in Léogâne. He originally produced it exclusively for his family, close friends, and most important clients (hence the "VIP" name). Today, it is bottled and shared with the world via Moscoso Distillers, preserving a piece of liquid Haitian history.
The Terroir: "Old School" Léogâne
-
The Vibe: If other spirits are "polished," this is "raw and crystalline." It is a high-proof explosion of fresh vegetation and earth.
-
The Cane: Made from Madame Meuze (Mevs) sugar cane, an heirloom variety grown organically (non-certified) in the fertile plains of Léogâne.
-
The "Slow" Craft: Beauvoir Leriche is famous for an exceptionally long fermentation using baker's yeast, followed by a very slow distillation in a small column still (12 trays). This process extracts an incredible amount of essential oils, giving the spirit its heavy, "chewy" texture.
🥃 Tasting Notes (The "Vibe" in 2026)
Bottled at a formidable 57.5% ABV, this is an "Overproof" experience that carries its heat with remarkable grace.
-
The Nose: Vegetal and Marine. It hits you with freshly cut grass, green bell pepper, and sea spray. As it opens, softer notes of ripe plum, honey, and wet hay emerge.
-
The Palate: Elegant and Explosive. The entry is surprisingly soft before the 57.5% kicks in. It tastes of sweet cane juice, wild mint, and licorice. There is a "tequila-esque" quality to it—earthy and slightly peppery.
-
The Finish: Long and Mineral. It leaves a persistent, cooling sensation of anise and crushed stones, with a faint hint of vanilla (surprising for an unaged spirit).

How to Enjoy:
-
The Purist: Sip it neat, but add a single drop of water. This "breaks" the surface tension and releases a cloud of floral and fruity aromas that the high alcohol otherwise masks.
-
The "Ti' Punch" Royale: Because of its high proof and complexity, it makes arguably the best Ti' Punch in the world. Just a "disque" of lime zest and a tiny drop of cane syrup.
-
The Mixology Secret: Use it as a "modifier" in classic cocktails. Adding just 1cl of this to a standard Daiquiri will give the drink a wild, funky dimension.
Pro Tip: In 2026, collectors often hunt for different "batches" of this reserve. Because it is produced with traditional methods and without rigid industrialized rules, slight variations exist from one bottling to the next. Some batches lean more into "tropical fruit" (pear and banana), while others are more "savory" (olive brine and truffle).
