Giant Steps was founded in 1997 by Phil Sexton, a pioneer of the Australian wine industry. The name Giant Steps refers to jazz legend John Coltrane’s iconic 1960 album Giant Steps.
Yarra Valley, located north of Melbourne in the state of Victoria, is known for its cool climate, which produces elegant and structured Chardonnay wines.
Giant Steps lets the vineyards and grapes take center stage. Their Chardonnay is made from hand‑picked, carefully selected grapes and matured in French oak with a gentle touch of oak influence. By allowing the wine to rest on its lees, it gains both structure and layered depth.
This is an excellent food wine for any time of year. Try it during asparagus season with grilled white asparagus and hollandaise, with grilled sea bass and lemon beurre blanc, or on the Christmas table alongside mushroom salad and cold-smoked salmon.
