The wine captivates with its pure fruitiness, its fresh and long finish with a warm character.
The story of the family estate begins in 1987, when Jean‑Luc Houblin and Valentin Vernin combined their expertise and founded Domaine Houblin‑Vernin. Coulanges‑la‑Vineuse is a historic wine village in the Yonne region, where the limestone-rich soils produce particularly fresh and mineral-driven white wines.
The limestone-rich soils of the area lend the wine subtle minerality and structure. Chardonnay is the region’s classic variety, producing elegant, gastronomic wines without overripe fruit.
The wine is produced using traditional Burgundian methods that highlight the natural aromas of the grape and the soil. Fermentation and maturation take place mainly in stainless steel tanks, preserving the wine’s freshness, fruitiness, and clean aromatic profile.
This wine is an excellent aperitif thanks to its dry and fresh character that stimulates the appetite. At the same time, it is highly versatile with food. It pairs especially well with rich fish such as salmon, with light meats like chicken or pork, and creamy vegetable dishes are also a great match. For those who enjoy experimenting, a range of young semi-hard and soft cheeses also complement this wine beautifully.
