Château Malmaison combines Merlot’s softness with Cabernet’s structure into a whole defined by Rothschild quality.
Château Malmaison is part of Baron Edmond de Rothschild’s wine estate, renowned for its high quality and respect for traditional winemaking. The estate is located in the historic Moulis‑en‑Médoc area.
Moulis-en-Médoc is one of the smallest yet most esteemed appellations in Médoc, known for its gravelly and limestone-rich soils that produce structured and aromatic wines. The vineyards of Château Malmaison benefit from the proximity to the Atlantic, which brings cooling influences and balances ripening. The grapes are primarily Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fermentation takes place in temperature‑controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve pure fruit expression and aromatic clarity. The length of maceration is adjusted according to the vintage to extract refined tannins without bitterness. The wine is aged for 12–14 months in a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Château Malmaison 2017 pairs beautifully with beef, game and aromatic vegetarian dishes. The wine opens up elegantly when decanted and continues to evolve in the cellar for several years, revealing increasingly deep and complex aromas.
