Bel Air Rouge (sichel) 2023

The "I’m a Bordeaux, but I’m Not Wearing a Tie" Red
🇫🇷 The VibeWhile the Bel Air Blanc is all about zesty energy, the Bel Air Rouge 2023 is its laid-back, smooth-talking cousin. Crafted by the Sichel family (who also happen to run a little place called Château Palmer—no big deal), this is "modern" Bordeaux. It’s rich, it’s round, and it doesn't make you wait ten years to enjoy it. It’s for the person who wants the prestige of a French red without the need for a decanter or a PhD in soil types.
The NoseThis wine is practically bursting out of the glass. You’ll get an immediate hit of ripe red fruits—think juicy strawberries, raspberries, and redcurrants. Because the 2023 vintage in Bordeaux was quite expressive, there’s also a hint of sweet paprika spice and black cherry. It smells like a sun-drenched basket of berries left on a wooden kitchen table.
The TasteOn the palate, it’s all about "drinkability." It’s medium-bodied and supple, with tannins that are so soft they’re practically velvet. It’s dominated by Merlot, which gives it that "greedy" (as the French say), fleshy fruitiness, while a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon adds just enough structure to keep things classy. It’s pure, fruit-forward, and dangerously easy to finish.
