Alte Grafschaft is a historic winery with roots reaching back to the era of the County of Wertheim; the name refers to the region’s long tradition of viticulture.
The wine comes from Germany’s Tauberfranken region, where the cool climate and limestone-rich soils give the grapes high acidity, minerality, and a clean aromatic profile. Pinot Blanc is a valued variety in the area, thriving especially well on calcareous slopes and producing fresh, refined wines.
The wine ferments and matures in stainless‑steel tanks but is allowed to rest on its lees, which adds roundness. Otherwise, the winemaking preserves the grape’s traditional flavour profile, combining apple notes, light floral tones, and minerality.
An excellent choice as an aperitif when you want a wine that stimulates the appetite. If you make baked feta pasta with cherry tomatoes at home, this wine’s freshness pairs beautifully with it. It also shines alongside a shrimp Caesar salad or crab cakes.
