Tradition, Monumental Structure, and the Pinnacle of Monforte d'Alba Terroir
Produced by the iconic Poderi Aldo Conterno estate in Monforte d'Alba, the Barolo "Bussia" represents the core of the winery's philosophy. This cuvée synthesizes the finest parcels within the renowned Bussia MGA (Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva), combining Nebbiolo's floral elegance with the power, firm tannin structure, and extraordinary longevity characteristic of Monforte soils.
The 2022 vintage in Langhe produced fruit with remarkable phenolic ripeness. Thanks to the estate's high-altitude vineyards and traditional vinification—including extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks—the wine showcases rich concentration while preserving lively acidity, mineral tension, and pristine aromatic focus.
🍷 Tasting Profile (2026 Perspective)
-
The Nose: Complex, Ethereal, and Deep. Opens with refined aromas of dried rose petals, violet, and tart red cherry, followed by multi-layered notes of leather, sweet tobacco, licorice, tar, and balsam-laced forest floor.
-
The Palate: Monumental, Austere, and Structured. Broad and powerful entry on the palate. The tannic weave is dense, fine, and firm, supported by a driving streak of stony mineral acidity that delivers vertical lift and dynamic energy.
-
The Finish: Extremely Long, Grippy, and Savory. Finishes with persistent echoes of crushed red berries, dark spices, chalky minerality, and a long, savory tail.

Pro Tip
Serve at 16–18°C. If opening in its youth (2026), decant for at least 2 hours to allow the firm Nebbiolo tannins and ethereal aromatics to unfurl.
-
The Classic Italian Match: Phenomenal alongside Brasato al Barolo (braised beef), roasted game birds (pigeon, pheasant), braised wild boar, or dishes with fresh White Alba Truffles.
-
The Cheese Match: Pairs masterfully with aged, hard cheeses such as Castelmagno d'Alpeggio, Parmigiano-Reggiano (36+ months), or aged Toma.
-
The "Nordic" Match: Superb paired with Slow-roasted Elk or Venison Tenderloin (Hirven / Poron sisäfilee) served with a rich juniper berry and red wine reduction, or Braised Roe Deer Cheeks with Porcini and Morels. Nebbiolo’s powerful tannins and bright acidity cut straight through lean game muscle and rich stocks, while its forest aromatics highlight wild berries and mushrooms flawlessly.
